This post won't have pictures, but I did post some in the previous post "Blogging on the go"
The last week or so have been pretty crazy around here. First, we have decided to venture into house hunting. Our lease is up at the apartment at the end of August and it is ridiculous how much rent is and you get no tax break for it. Plus the obvious things like upstairs/downstairs neighbors, no backyard & no patio. And even though our apartment is a pretty good size as far as apartments go...a house will just give us so much more room. Half of our stuff is boxed up and/or stored in the garage. It will be like Christmas when we get to open them again!! We found a house that we liked and were going to put an offer on it yesterday, but someone beat us to the punch. I guess it wasn't meant to be. And so the search continues....
The other thing that has kept me busy this past week is setting up therapy for Kennedy. We have been doing 2x a week of physical therapy, 1x a week of occupational therapy and 3x a month of speech therapy (all 45 minute sessions). Last week her PT suggested that we look into an Intensive Therapy Program. I've posted a youtube video of what it looks like.
The Cage they show in the video is just part of the program, but it is 3 hours a day, 5 days a week for 3 weeks. She really felt like Kennedy is a good canidate for this because of several things. 1) She wants to do things. She does things that show us that she wants to move from point A to point B, just can't figure out how to get there. 2) She has made progress consistantly since we started therapy 3) The Intensive Therapy program uses pulleys, weights, etc during their sessions and those are things that currently we physically can't do at the house.
I started researching the program and saw a lot of positive feedback. There are just over 100 places in the US that use this program. Luckily, one is only about 5 minutes from us. What are the odds, right? Well, I called them and they don't take our insurance and $6300 was a lot of money! So, the research continued...Hudson, WI has a location. Awesome, but I thought what are the chances that they take our insurance when the one down the road doesn't? Apparently the odds are 100%. They take our insurance and we would only have to pay a copay for each visit. Granted that can add up too, but it will be less than 1/4 of the cost.
Avanti is 15 miles from Jessica (my sister) so we could stay with them. I was getting excited and the possibility that this may work...not only for the therapy that Kennedy would get, but also because I would get to be around my family for 3 whole weeks!! The last week has been spent going back and forth with them on insurance, prescriptions and scheduling. I talked to the lady today and paid the downpayment. Kennedy is scheduled to start on May 9th! I will book our plane tickets later today and we will be all set. My mom's friends, Jeff and Lori, have graciously agreed to let me use their van while we are up there. We would have made it work somehow, but with their van it will be so much easier on everyone. Thank you so much!!!
Her sessions will be either from 9-12 or 10-1 and the last 30 minutes are so will be spent in the pool doing aquatherpy. I am so so so excited to see what this will do for her!!!! I can't even imagine the nap that this girl is going to take every afternoon! Hopefully I can keep her awake in the car long enough to get back and have lunch before she conks out :)
We will resume our normal therapies down here in June. With the kickstart that we are hoping the Intensive Therapy will give her she should have an awesome summer!!
I'm off to look at more houses online. Wish us luck!

Updates!
Last week was very crazy because we were hosting the District Track meet and I was in charge of all the meet entries and heat sheets. This is no small task when there are 7 schools. Needless to say that consumed most of my free time and I wasn't able to update the blog.
The most important thing that happened last week was I had another dr. appointment on Monday. I was able to bat my eyelashes and smile and he did another ultrasound. I think he would have done one anyway though because he tried to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler and wasn't able to find it. But anyway, all of that to get to the fact that IT'S A GIRL!!

I was 14 weeks and 2 days which is earlier than they would normally do a gender ultrasound, but he was pretty convinced that it was a girl. He did say he had the right to take it back in 4 weeks when he did another one, but like I said he was pretty sure so we are going with that. So much so that we are painting pink. We had the painters scheduled to come this Wednesday to do the upstairs bedrooms anyway, so the worst that could happen is we have to have him come back and paint blue over the pink. Not the end of the world, right? Here is another picture. She was quite active so he had to be quick to catch the pictures, but you can see her spine in this one.

The weekend before last we made a trip up to IKEA and found some stuff for the game room and media room. We also found dining room furniture and it is being delivered on Wednesday. I ordered baby room furniture and it should be here in the next week as well - except for the crib that is on back order until the end of May :( With all that the house if finally coming together. It's actually starting to look like we actually live there instead of just moved in.
We are looking forward to Mom visiting next week. She gets in on Wednesday night and will be here until Sunday. We are also hoping that Grandma and Grandpa Miller are able to stop by on their way home from South Texas. It will be nice to see all of them.

Living Room Picture

I know it isn't much but here is at least a picture of the living room. The house is finally starting to come together. We are getting dining room furniture delivered next Wednesday and they are also coming to paint the upstairs bedrooms that day. We were going to paint them ourselves and then decided against it and hired the same guy that did the rest of the house to come back. More pictures will be posted eventually :)

Moved In!
We spent our first night in the new house last night. We got almost everything moved yesterday. We still have some small stuff and clothes over there. The only big stuff is the grill and patio furniture. We don't close on the old house until the 26th so it isn't a huge hurry. We still don't have Internet at the new house so I'm posting on my phone. Once I'm at a computer I'll post some pictures. We LOVE the house and can't wait for you to come visit!

New House Closing
We closed on our new house on Thursday, but weren't able to get into the house until late last night. The seller's technically had 72 hours to move out because there was a lease clause in our contract. The would have been today (Sunday) at 3:00, but our realtor told us that if we drove by and there were no cars in the driveway and the house was empty then we could go in.
We went last night after dinner with the Hubbard's around 10:00 and they were gone. We spent about 45 minutes enjoying the fact that we owned the house now and figuring out where we were going to put stuff and what the painter was going to paint, etc. We plan on bringing some stuff over there today and putting it in the garage until the painters are done and the carpets are cleaned. All of that will be done by Friday and we will move everything from the old house on Saturday.
I will post before and after pictures soon!

House Update
We have had 6 showings on the house in the last 4 days so we are cautiously optimistic. We had one Thursday, one Friday, three on Saturday and one more today. Say a little prayer that one of these will make an offer.
New House Countdown:
11 days 'til Closing
20 days 'til Move In
The sellers have 3 days to move out after closing and then we are going to do some painting and carpet cleaning before we move everything in.
We can't wait!!

Welcome to The Huffman's Blog
We have decided to join the world of blogging. It seems like the thing to do lately. For those of you that are wondering I'm still not giving in to Facebook. :)
For those of you that haven't heard we are in the process of purchasing a new house. We are super excited about the move. We close on January 29th and should be living in the house by February 7th. We are going to have some painting done before we move everything in the house. We will have plenty of room for visitors! We'll post pictures after we move in on February 7th.
We decided to buy the new house before selling our current one. Say a few prayers that it sells quickly.
That is all for now - check back later for updates.
