We Are Home!

We were discharged from the hospital on Saturday and got home about 3:30 or so. Kennedy did very well with her 1st car ride...all 5 minutes of it. We are getting settled at home. The first night was a little rough, but last night was better.

She had a check up this afternoon and was down to 7 lbs 13 oz so we have to go back on Wednesday to have a weight check. Nothing to be too concerned about at this point.

Here are a few more pictures for those blog stalkers out there. :)

Kennedy, Grandma's Here...You Can Come Anytime Now!

I was hoping that Kennedy was just waiting for my mom to get here before she decided to make her appearance. Well, she got here yesterday afternoon and we haven't made a trip to the hospital yet. Still "patiently" waiting, hoping that I don't make it to Thursday!

Tuesday's Dr. Appointment

Still waiting for Kennedy's arrival. Hopefully it will happen within the next week. No big news on progress with this week's appointment. He isn't going to let me go past next Thursday though. I'm hoping she will decide to come on her own before that. We will see what she has planned for us in the next week. Mom is coming on Sunday so hopefully she will get to spend most of her time with Kennedy and not just me during the day :) Danny's mom and stepdad will be here for a few days in the middle of October. She will be spoiled during both visits I'm sure.

39 Weeks

So far Kennedy is content where she is. I have had a few contractions here and there, but nothing major or with any kind of consistency. We will see what the doctor says tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures we took yesterday (39 weeks 1 day).

Danny thought it would be funny to add a prop to one of them.

Hopefully our next post will be about Kennedy's arrival. I'm trying not to get my hopes up though.

38 Week Appointment

I just got home from my 38 week appointment. Here is how it went...

My blood pressure was a little high but he didn't seem real worried because I wasn't swelling and didn't have a large weight gain.

I'm up to 2 1/2 cm dilated, so I made some progress from last week. Yeh!

When he was checking my belly he said "That's a big baby". I asked him how big and he said "big." He took us to the sonogram room to see just how big she actually was. I told Danny if he says close to 10 pounds I'm going to cry. Lucky for me he measured her between 8 lbs 2 oz and 8 lbs 5 oz. With only a week left that isn't too bad.

I have an appointment next Tuesday and he said that if she hasn't arrived at that point then we may talk about some options depending on how big she is next week. I'm not thinking he will let me go more than a day or two past my due date. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. Anytime after this Friday would be great with me.

Until next week (or maybe sooner).....

Better late than never, right?

Here are some pictures that were taken when I was 35 weeks. That was 2 1/2 weeks ago. Maybe I'll get Danny to take an almost 38 week picture tonight.

37 Week Appointment

I had my 37 week appointment today. I'm 1 to 1 1/2 cm dialated at this point and go back next Tuesday. He said things could change between now and then, but he doesn't forsee me going into labor before next week's appointment. We will see where I am then. He said that I would most likely deliver pretty close to my due date though and to not get my hopes up of delivering early.

The bags are packed and I made a trip to Target yesterday (perfect timing for them to have a baby sale) and got a swing, a diaper genie, more diapers and wipes and some other odds and ends. We are ready if she does decide to make her appearance sooner than later.

Until next week....

Good Bye Summer

If only that were true about the summer weather too...we have been right around 100 for quite awhile down here! Most of my friends as well as Danny are gearing back up for another school year. It is weird to think that I won't be welcoming kids to my classroom in 2 weeks. Instead we will be welcoming our little bundle of joy home in about 7 weeks. It is crazy to think how fast the time as flown by since we found out we were expecting on January 13th. As Danny says I have my nesting moments. Nothing too major yet, but I'm sure that will change. Still working on getting her room like I want it. We have the furniture, but still need some book shelves or something like that. I did order the car seat/stroller a few weeks ago so at least we can bring her home from the hospital :) My friends, Polly and Shelly, are throwing me a shower on the 22nd, so I'm sure we will be making a trip to Babies R Us and Target after that to get stuff that we still need. I guess that is all for now. Hadn't posted in awhile so I wanted to get something on here. Until next time...

30 Week Ultrasound Pictures

Just got these scanned in...not sure why they are showing up so small. Sorry.

This was actually taken at 27 weeks while I was in the hospital up in Wisconsin.

Danny is hoping this is the foot of the fastest swimmer Mansfield has ever had!

You can already see her little chubby cheeks.

This was at the end of the ultrasound. Apparently she had a headache :)

30 Week Appointment

We had an appointment this morning and everything is looking good. She weighs about 4 pounds already. He couldn't see anything that showed any signs of bleeding and said that I could go back to normal activities. I had to start making 2 week appointments now. Hard to believe it is already that time.

Sorry it's been so long!

It's been a busy month for us. Mom, Jessica and the kids came down to visit on June 20th and stayed for a week. We spent a lot of time at the pool. The kids got really good at "swimming" by the end of the week. Caden was swimming in the deep end without his life jacket after the 2nd day. Makayla wouldn't even jump in at all the first day and by the end she was jumping in and we were counting how long she could hold her breath.

While they were her a friend on mine took some pictures. They turned out so well.

Wednesday we went to Fossil Rim which is basically a zoo that you drive through. We all had a lot of fun feeding the animals that came up to the car. Lots of different types of deer, zebras, giraffe, rinos, cheetahs. Of course the rinos and cheetahs didn't actually come up to the car. The were in a caged area that you could see from your car. As you can see from these pictures they come into your car. The first time it happened Caden and Makayla kept saying, "The deer is in the car, the deer is in the car!" I'm not sure if it was fear or amazement I could hear in their voices. After the first time though all loved feeding the animals. Cole sat on Grandma's lap while she was driving for a lot of the trip and the other two were in front with me or Jessica. It was pretty much musical chairs throughout the trip.

Friday morning we all left for Wisconsin. I decided to ride back with them so I only had to buy a one-way ticket home. We left about 6:30am and got to Jessica's about 1:00am Saturday morning. It wasn't a bad drive at all. The kids were so good for the whole trip.

Cole was amazed at what he could see when I reclined my seat to take a nap. His facial expressions always seem to make me laugh!

Saturday we planned on going to Caden's baseball game, but the weather had different ideas. It was rained out. Mom, Makayla, Cole and I headed back to Luck and met Grandma and Grandpa and my cousin's family at the Milltown Fisherman's Party for lunch.

Sunday brought some unplanned events. I woke up in the morning with some bleeding. After calling my hospital, a couple friends who are nurses and my friend Kim that is also pregnant, we headed for the St. Croix hospital. They placed me on the monitors and her heartbeat was in normal range and I could hear her moving. This definitley helped me to breathe a little easier. They ran some tests, did an ultrasound to check the placenta and my kidneys. Everything looked normal, but the doctor decided to admit me overnight just to be sure. She actually told me that they usually keep people for 48 hours when that happens. I had some more tests Monday morning and I was released Monday night. They couldn't really tell me the reason, but placed me on modified bed rest for 2 weeks (the entire time I was up there). Basically, no heavy lifting and spending 6 hours (2 morning, 2 afternoon, 2 evening) throughout the day on the couch. I was breaking all the rules of Wii by playing with the kids from the couch. My regular doctor told me to continue the restrictions until I have my appointment which is this coming Monday. I don't spend the entire 6 hours, but I do rest several times a day and haven't had any problems since I first went to the ER.

The rest of my vacation was spent between Luck and New Richmond. I was able to see 2 of Caden's baseball games, went out to Grandma and Grandpas for a pontoon ride and bonfire, spent a couple days up at the cabin with Janelle, Dave, Alisha and Anna. One time my cousins Jared, Jerame and Jared's wife Melissa were there and another time my cousin Nicolle, her husband Chris and their little boy, Lucas were there. The reason for the bolding is because Jared loves being mentioned in other people's blogs.

Caden was so excited to be able to play catcher at this game.

Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and I made a trip to see Aaron and Renee in Wausau on July 5th. They moved into a new house this winter, it was nice to see it. It's perfect for them... Aaron has a garage and a pole shed to work on all his projects and Renee is trying to make sense of all the flowers (or weeds) that have bloomed since they moved in.

While I was in Wisconsin Danny was busy supporting the family by coaching swimming. He had two different swim meets while I was gone as well as practice everyday. As he would say, "somebody's gotta work around here" (jokingly, of course).

I flew back on Saturday and we went out for our anniversary since he had a swim meet on Sunday. We went to The Melting Pot. Neither of us had been to a fondue place before, it was really fun. It was a little pricey, but worth it for a special occasion.

Since I've been back we haven't really done a whole lot. I had to take the 3 hour glucose test on Wednesday. I got the results back today and everything was fine. Thank goodness, gestational diabetes was not something I was wanting to deal with. There is just something wrong about taking away certain foods from a pregnant lady.

I will be 30 weeks tomorrow and have my appointment on Monday. After that I will start going every 2 weeks! January sounds like so long ago, but on the other hand the last 7 months have flown by. We can't wait to actually hold Kennedy in September!

My cousin, Janelle, took a cute belly shot at the 4th of July. I'll post it when she sends it to me.

21 Week Picture

These pictures were taken last Wednesday when I was 21 1/2 weeks.

The school year is winding down and we only have 8 days with kids left. The countdown to the end of the year is a little different for me this year since I have resigned and will be staying home for at least next year. Hopefully it will be more than that, but we will see what next summer brings. I have yet to start packing up my stuff from the past 10 years. I guess I better get on that. Next Friday will be here before I know it. It will be bitter sweet. I really do love my job and the people I work with, but am super excited about staying home with our new bundle of joy next year.

My next appointment is this Thursday. We are looking forward to seeing how much she has grown since last month.

Latest Appointment

I had a dr appointment Monday morning and here are the latest pictures. He confirmed that it was a girl, which is good since the pink stuff was adding up quickly. She is measuring right on schedule for her late September appearance.

He did diagnose me with placenta previa, but wasn't too concerned about it at this point because I am only 18 weeks. As long as there is no bleeding then I'm good and I haven't had any so that is good. The good news about that diagnoses is that he will have to check on it at my next appointment which means another ultrasound! Hopefully all will be good by then.

I think I have felt her kick, but I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll be able to tell for sure.

Here is a face picture...you can even make out her eyebrow.

Here she is showing off her toes

Updates!

Last week was very crazy because we were hosting the District Track meet and I was in charge of all the meet entries and heat sheets. This is no small task when there are 7 schools. Needless to say that consumed most of my free time and I wasn't able to update the blog.

The most important thing that happened last week was I had another dr. appointment on Monday. I was able to bat my eyelashes and smile and he did another ultrasound. I think he would have done one anyway though because he tried to hear the baby's heartbeat on the doppler and wasn't able to find it. But anyway, all of that to get to the fact that IT'S A GIRL!!

I was 14 weeks and 2 days which is earlier than they would normally do a gender ultrasound, but he was pretty convinced that it was a girl. He did say he had the right to take it back in 4 weeks when he did another one, but like I said he was pretty sure so we are going with that. So much so that we are painting pink. We had the painters scheduled to come this Wednesday to do the upstairs bedrooms anyway, so the worst that could happen is we have to have him come back and paint blue over the pink. Not the end of the world, right? Here is another picture. She was quite active so he had to be quick to catch the pictures, but you can see her spine in this one.

The weekend before last we made a trip up to IKEA and found some stuff for the game room and media room. We also found dining room furniture and it is being delivered on Wednesday. I ordered baby room furniture and it should be here in the next week as well - except for the crib that is on back order until the end of May :( With all that the house if finally coming together. It's actually starting to look like we actually live there instead of just moved in.

We are looking forward to Mom visiting next week. She gets in on Wednesday night and will be here until Sunday. We are also hoping that Grandma and Grandpa Miller are able to stop by on their way home from South Texas. It will be nice to see all of them.

14 Week Belly Picture

Here is the belly pic some of you have been asking for. This was taken yesterday. I'm 14 weeks and 2 day. I have another doctors appointment today. Maybe I'll have some more pictures to share tomorrow. I'm not scheduled for a sonogram, but the nurse said they were going to try and squeeze me in anyway. :)

Sonogram Video

Sonogram Video

This is my first attempt at adding video to the blog. I hope it works. It is just over a minute I think. The doctor is zooming in and out so that is why it goes black sometimes. The head is on the left side of the video and one of the hands is in the bottom middle. He/She was quite active - I think that at one point they are actually waving at us. We really need to come up with a "name" for the baby so I don't have to use "they, it or he/she" all the time.

Okay - obviously didn't work....I'll keep trying.

Dr. Appointment Yesterday

Wow how time flies. I am almost out of the 1st trimester. Hopefully it takes with it the crummy stomach that seemed to go along with it. That is what everyone keeps telling me anyway. I'm hoping they are right.

I had a dr. appointment yesterday and had another sonogram. I can't believe how the little one has grown in such a short time. We were both pretty amazed that it was more than a little blob on the screen. Last time the heartbeat was 120 and this time it was 182. Not sure what that means about having a boy or a girl.

The baby was pretty active yesterday afternoon so we got some good video. A friend of mine is going to try and get just a few seconds of it so I can post it on here. For now a still picture will have to do.

Feeling Better

Things are looking up (a little). I have found that if I eat small things throughout the day that I feel much better. Not great - but better. I also had to change my morning routine and eat breakfast right when I get up instead of in the car on the way to work. I still have good days and bad days but at least there are some good days. It is crazy to think that I only have 16 more days in my 1st trimester. From what everyone has told me I will start feeling a lot better in about 2 weeks. I have my next dr. appointment next Tuesday, so I should have some more pictures and maybe even a video to add to the blog.
