On the Move!

It would be great if this post was about Kennedy being mobile, but we aren't quite there yet. This post is about our family being on the move. It has been a crazy few days to say the least...here is the timeline

Wednesday 6/16 - Call from Deer Park (Houston area) to see if Danny can come in for an interview Thursday

Thursday 6/17 - Drive to Deer Park...interview at 2:00...athletic director and Danny pick Kennedy and I up at hotel to go see the high school and pool...return to hotel at 5:30...drive around to check out the area

Friday 6/18 - Athletic director picks us up and drives us around the area for about 3 hours. Very nice guy!...calls back about 15 minutes after dropping us off and tells us that the superintendant and his wife want to take us out to dinner...drive around the area looking at some apartment complexes (just in case) before they come to pick us up...get a call from another district athletic director offering him a job (tells her he will call her on Monday)...have a 3 hour dinner/tour with superintendant and wife (he offers Danny the job). Again very nice people!

Saturday 6/19 - Get up and look at some other apartment/townhouse complexes and find one we like (again, just in case)...drive back home...try to weigh pros and cons of both jobs

Sunday 6/20 - weigh more pros and cons....not really sure what we are going to do since one job requires us to sell the house and move from friends.

Monday 6/21 - decide that Deer Park is a great opportunity that we would be silly to pass up...call and get the apartment we liked...get to work on stuff around the house...meet with realtor in the afternoon

Tuesday 6/22 - continue working on house

Wednesday 6/23 - more house/yard work

Thursday 6/24 - Danny officially resigns current job...house is on the market! Really hoping for a quick sell since we move August 2nd.

There were lots of sleepless nights and a few tears on my part, but like I said the people in Deer Park were very nice and the swim opportunity for Danny is great. He will have his own 8 lane pool that is located in the middle of the high school and will have an assistant coach. The program is established and very similar to what the program was at his current job (well, former now) when he came here. There is a lot of potential and the support from the athletic director and superintendant has been amazing. While we were at dinner he also brought up a future job for me as well (I'm staying home next year)...they have the same program as I used to teach in the technology area. I would love to get back into that position for the 2011-2012 school year.

So...life is a little crazy between Kennedy's doctor stuff and job relocation, but all is good. Kennedy has gotten good reports from the doctors (more on that below) and we are excited (although a little sad about moving) about the move.

Kennedy Update:
Her official diagnosis is benign congential hypotonia, which basically means she was born with low muscle tone and with physical therapy should be caught up to her peers by about 24 months! She has been doing so well. She actually likes being on her tummy and hold her head up pretty well when she is. Not so much head-butting the floor anymore. She rolls all over the place and sometimes she even moves her legs like she is wanting to crawl. Like I said in the beginning we aren't there yet, but she is making so much progress she will be soon!

The computer is acting funny when I try to add pictures so I'll try again tomorrow. Sorry to all those blog stalkers that only come for the pictures :)

so funny I was just going to call you and see how things were going with all of you action this week. I love you all and I am sure there will be more tears as it gets closer but I did the same thing when I moved away from home many, many years ago and it was a very good move for us. God DOES know what he is doing!!!

Wow, huge news. Congratulations and good luck with the move! So exciting about Kennedy too, she'll be running around the house and swimming laps at Daddy's pool in no time.
